The Orange and Yellow Notes
She just got home from school and she wasn’t sure she would even want to sleep. She pulled out her favorite memo pad and saw that there were only orange and yellow ones left. She thought she might have used all the blue and green ones—the ones she love. She then poured her colored pens on the bed started to write a short story-like about her crush on alternate memo papers. Orange then yellow. It would be some sort of confession. Every memo paper has a cup of coffee drawn on it. She loves coffee.
In one of the notes,
I NEVER LIKED NIGHT CLASSES
BECAUSE ALL I WANTED WAS TO
GO HOME EARLY.
(there was a cup of coffee drawn)
A STRANGER BESIDE ME.
A NEW FACE TO REMEMBER.
A NEW NAME TO STAMP ON MY MIND.
A NEW PERSON TO BEFRIEND.
She finished the first set and then she finally slept. The next day, she didn’t see him but she did thought of him once in a while.
Every night of her classes with him, she wrote a new note and then placed it with the rest.
For a month, she compiled a lot of it and she found herself brave enough to hand it to him.
One night, she had the notes with her, waiting for him to appear in class. She was excited to hand the notes.
A friend of hers sat beside her, laughing. Her friend looked crazy but she didn’t mind. She had a good mood. Then her friend started blabbering and along the way, her friend mentioned that her crush has a girlfriend. She wasn’t at all shocked until her friend told her that the girlfriend was in the same class as them every night for the past month.
She peeked in her bag, the orange and yellow notes peeking out of her notebook.
The orange and yellow notes that remained ungiven.
